Rovi signs Sony smart TV, advanced advertising deal

Hot on the heels of its very productive CES 2014, Rovi has continued its advances with CE leaders by renewing its licence agreement with Sony for interactive programme guide patents and collaborating on advanced TV advertising.

Under the terms of the new interactive programme guide agreement, Sony will be able to access to Rovi's guide patent portfolio for its consumer electronics devices worldwide and have the ability to use related Rovi guide and metadata technologies.

In addition to this Rovi will collaborate with Sony on advanced TV advertising. The CE behemoth already uses Rovi Advertising Service, part of Rovi Cloud Services, on its connected TVs and Blu-ray players in North America and Europe.
