Cisneros Media is to launch Cisneros Media Distribution (CMD), a global distribution company for programming and content for all platforms.
The announcement has come ahead of the NAPTE convention, which is held in Miami at the end of January.
CMD is replacing Venevision International, which offered an audiovisual catalogue of over 30,000 hours of TV programming, commercialised in more than 100 countries and 20 languages. CMD will now represent the products of both Venevision International and Venevision, one of the main Venezuela's broadcasters.
"We are thrilled with the coming on a new era for our programming distributor, staying 'in-tune' with the advances in technology, the development of new platforms, the ever-growing need for content, and the transformation of the manner it is delivered," explained Jonathan Blum, Cisneros Media's president. "CMD aims to remain at the forefront of the entertainment industry as it builds on the sound foundation established by its predecessor, Venevision International."
CMD, which will continue to operate satellite offices in Asia, Europe and Latin America, will present a new programming proposal at NATPE. The portfolio will comprise a wide variety of entertainment content, from soap operas and action-packed series to films and documentaries, mostly from independent production companies.
"It's much more than a change of the company's name; we have a new corporate mission, expanding with industry innovation as technology breaks down geographical boundaries, distribution barriers and the manner in which audiences view entertainment content," stated Cesar Diaz, CMD's VP.
