Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networks has made a UK IPTV breakthrough in its first carriage agreement with TalkTalk, which will see its Sony Entertainment Television (SET) available on the YouView platform.
SPT's global channels portfolio includes 124 channel feeds, available in 159 countries and reaching more than 840 million households worldwide. The channels offer film and television content from Sony Pictures and third party distributors, as well as original content commissioned globally and locally. One of SPT's global channel brands, SET features light and scripted entertainment, including feature films and television series from the Hollywood studios. SPT Networks operates a bespoke version of the channel for the UK, also scheduling British television series.
TalkTalk subscribers will be able to access the channel through their Entertainment and Entertainment Extra Boost packages. Content available will include territory premieres of comedies like Community and Hot In Cleveland along with the complete seasons of quality scripted shows such as Will and Grace, The Tudors, Hustle and Life on Mars. Feature Films coming up include Seven Pounds, Rachel Getting Married, In Her Shoes and The Omen (2006).
Commenting on the move, SPT Networks SVP, Kate Marsh, said: "This new carriage agreement with TalkTalk marks the latest expansion of Sony Entertainment Television's audience in the UK. We look forward to bringing top SET series and features to TalkTalk customers."
Added TalkTalk's Tristia Harrison: "This is an exciting step for us. Since launching a little over a year ago, TalkTalk TV has grown from strength to strength and we're now proud to be Britain's fastest growing TV service. We're strong believers that great quality content should be available to everyone and pleased that TalkTalk homes can now enjoy Sony Entertainment Television."
