Restart rockets downloads for Sky Italia

Leading Italian pay-TV provider Sky Italia has seen an almost instant effect of its recently announced Restart service that allows users to begin an on-air film over a connected device even during transmission.
Indeed, Sky Italia claims that Restart has been downloaded more than three million times in its first three weeks of operation, with the local version of the Sky Go mobile video service driving two million downloads and a million for Sky On Demand.
An increasingly connected audience wants to choose which programmes it wants to watch, when to watch them and with which devices, easily and with no additional costs, says Sky. In just a few weeks, thanks to Restart – which enables viewers to restart a movie already on air even if it's already started – the Sky audience downloaded more than three million movies on My Sky.
Attempting to explain the uptake, Sky Italia said that it was tapping into increased demand for connected experiences, in particular for services such as its own which provide customers an anytime, anywhere experience, in an environment that integrates all the main media.
