German cable operator PrimaCom wants to expand its footprint through takeovers, with the first acquisition already finalised, according to managing director Joachim Grendel.
At the end of 2013, PrimaCom purchased Plauen-based cable operator Sy-Fra Antennentechnik. The company, which has been deploying and operating cable networks for 20 years, serves around 22,000 households, mainly in Saxony and Thuringia, but also in Bavaria and other Federal States.
"The acquisition of Sy-Fra is a first step in our growth course," Grendel explained. "We plan to expand our coverage area through further purchases of cable operators which fit our networks and thereby continuously increase our number of connected and served households."
In total, PrimaCom serves around one million households throughout Germany with cable TV, telephony and Internet access.
