Chicago-based company Music Box Films has acquired all US and Canadian rights to the two seasons of French TV series Maison Close, which delves into the heart of an exclusive 19th century Parisian brothel.

The drama series, which is distributed by France Televisions Distribution, was created by Jacques Ouaniche and produced by Noe Productions International with the participation of Canal+.

The series also aired on Sky Arts in the UK.

Jemima West, star of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, is part of the cast of women characters trapped by circumstance and their society's limited options.

Maison Close is the newest addition to Music Box's slate of foreign television acquisitions, which include Sweden's Wallander, Germany's Generation War, Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Penance, and France's The Returned.

This international Emmy award-winning series premiered in October 2013 on Sundance Channel, and will be released on DVD on February 11, 2014, in the US before being available on Netflix February 24, 2014.
