The Russian UTH Group has acquired a 15% stake in the French DTT HD channel Numéro 23, founded by Pascal Houzelot, according to Les Echos.
A year after its launch, the channel has increased the number of its investors by a capital increase through which the Russian TV operator has entered.
UTH Group operates Disney Channel Russia, U Channel, Muz-TV, and the music platform ClipYou.
Houzelot, who also owns the gay TV network Pink TV, retains a controlling interest in the channel but his share has decreased from 85% to 70%.
Founded in 2009, UTH Group belongs to USM Group, which holds stakes in the telco MegaFon, the second largest mobile operator in Russia, and in the Web research engine Mail.ru Group.
Through Numéro 23, the group is making its first breakthrough in France.
