Intelligent media storage and archiving workflow specialist StorageDNA has announced the availability of the DNA Evolution Mac-based server and Thunderbolt systems (M Series). Media and entertainment professionals who prefer Apple's Mac ecosystem now have access to the company's Linear Tape-Open (LTO) with Linear Tape File System (LTFS) archive-retrieval workflow solution.
"The world is moving beyond 1-Gigabit speeds," said Bryson Jones, founder and CIO at StorageDNA customer North Shore Automation. "StorageDNA's new Mac-based offerings enable the direct, high-bandwidth connections to storage that are necessary to move the massive amounts of data our clients generate and manage."
He added: "When we design a system, having the ability to adapt the archiving solution to the workflow, instead of the other way around, is a great advantage."
StorageDNA's DNA Evolution combines near-line and archive storage on LTO tape and was designed to help media professionals manage digital file-based content and lower storage costs.
"We recognise that many of our customers prefer Mac-based systems. In response, we wanted to provide them with an easy and cost-effective solution that runs on the platform they use every day," said Jeff Krueger, worldwide vice president of sales at StorageDNA. "With the M Series, we are pleased to be able to offer more options and hardware flexibility, in the smallest form factor, while also delivering the highest possible archiving performance."
