Brazilian cable and satellite TV programmer Globosat has selected the CherryPicker Application Platform CAP-1000 from ARRIS Group to deliver and monetise new entertainment services.

The ARRIS CAP-1000 features an advanced IP-centric architecture designed for multiscreen, multichannel content, including adverts.

"ARRIS powers smarter networks that transform the way that service providers give consumers their media, their way — today and in the future," said German Laryczower, senior vice president of sales for the Caribbean and Latin America at ARRIS. "Our CAP-1000 solution not only enables Globosat to deliver the best possible viewing experience to its 40-plus million viewers, but it allows it to capitalise on large revenue-generating opportunities like localised ad insertion."

Brazilians consume nearly 20 hours of TV each week, according to the ARRIS Fourth Annual Media Engagement Barometer — a fact that is driving investment in new management and multiplexing solutions amongst operators to scale demand.

"Globosat delivers some of the best entertainment, news, and content experiences to more than 40 million consumers in Brazil," said Alexandre Torres, technology development manager at Globosat. "We're constantly innovating to give our consumers personalized and immersive viewing experiences, and the ARRIS CAP-1000 was a natural choice for meeting today's high-definition demand, while allowing us to incorporate new content services, like localised advertising, down the road."
