Entone has seen 40% year-on-year unit growth for its set-top box (STB) sales in 2013, it has reported.

"The robust nature of STB sales is a contrary industry development," said Steve McKay, CEO of Entone. "Entone's R&D focus is on software that provides an evolutionary path to cloud TV services with less reliance on operator-provisioned set-top boxes. The irony is that as operators start migrating to an all-IP platform, we are selling more set-top boxes than ever in the process."

Entone's momentum has been spurred by continued growth in the US and rapid international expansion, particularly in Europe and Latin America. The company has also entered the US CATV market with its multi-tuner Magi Hybrid Media Gateway that transcodes and distributes pay-TV services to consumer electronics devices within the home, supporting a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) world beneficial to operators and consumers alike.

In 2013, Entone added more than 25 new service operators to its customer portfolio, including Bermuda CableVision, Brandenburg Telephone, Caiway, Canadian Valley Telephone, SkyMedia, Volia and WestStar.

Entone also announced integration partnerships with global technology leaders LG and TiVo.
