The launch date for the women's channel TLC in Germany has now been set for 10 April 2014 when operating company Discovery Networks will press the red button for the new free-to-air service, according to German industry magazine Kontakter.

The launch will be accompanied by an advertising campaign developed by Munich-based agency Neverest, with the slogan 'TLC - Hier spielt das Leben' ('TLC - where life takes place').

The programmes on TLC, which mainly targets women between 20-49, will focus on reality TV shows. A large part of the content will come from the stock of US parent company Discovery, for example the series Breaking Amish. Local German productions are also planned.

TLC received a broadcast licence from Bavarian media authority BLM in December 2013. In addition to pay-TV channels Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, Discovery also operates free-to-air men's channel DMAX in Germany.
