Eircom sets TV goal

eircomIreland’s eircom is targeting 24,000 subscribers for its eVision TV service by this June.

In its latest set of results, the company says its other delivery imperatives for 2014 include 125,000 fibre customers by June, 1,000,000 fibre premises by summer and triple and quad play bundling by October.

Eircom launched eVision TV in October 2013, thereby becoming the first company in Ireland to offer a uniquely quad play service.

EVision TV introduced above the line advertising this January and currently offers a core proposition of 46 channels a for €10 a month.

The total offer of 100 channels, 19 of which have been recently introduced, includes several additional packs.

Also available are Multiroom and HD for €5 each, along with PVR. Eircom’s revenues for the quarter and six months ended December 31, 2013, were €334 million and €657 million respectively, down 5% and 7% on the corresponding periods in 2013.

Operating costs were €220 million and €424 million respectively, down €17 million or 7% and €48 million or 10% on a year earlier.

EBITDA for the quarter and six months ended December 31, 2013 were €114 million and €233 million respectively, down 1%, compared to a year earlier, driven primarily by increased investments in service acquisition costs.
