Pay-TV broadcaster Fox wants to produce an original series in Germany. "We are currently looking for scripts," Marco de Ruiter, head of Fox International Channels in Germany, told industry magazine kress.

De Ruiter is looking for a high quality production. "I'm 51% certain that kick-off will be this year," he said. With the move, the Fox head hopes to establish a German response to successful US productions like Breaking Bad or the recently launched Fox series Ray Donovan.

"The budget is there," said de Ruiter, who added that he's now waiting for suitable proposals from the "creativity community". "We have to push German pay-TV with German productions," he said. "What counts for me is not that we are the first. It's about being the best."
