Warner Bros goes global with Eyeworks acquisition

Warner Bros TV Group has agreed to acquire the international TV and film production units of Netherlands-based Eyeworks, in a transaction valued at more than US$273 million.
Warner Bros will gain 14 key territories across Europe and South America as well as in Australia and New Zealand.
"Our proposed acquisition of Eyeworks' 15 local production companies represents a significant next step in our strategy, further strengthening Warner Bros' position in global television," said Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara.
Warner Bros already has a few operations overseas thanks to the 2010 acquisition of the UK's Shed Media, and the 2011 buy of BlazHoffski, which operates in the Netherlands and Belgium. But the Eyeworks acquisition populates much more of the map for the media giant.
Eyeworks USA meanwhile will not be included in the sale. Current Eyeworks Group CEO and co-founder Reinout Oerlemans came to the US after the sale to become chairman of that division.
