Virgin Media clocks up 2MN TiVo customers

UK pay-TV platform Virgin Media has hooked up two million customers to its on-demand TiVo service since launch in December 2010.

The company also says that 519 million TV programmes were watched on-demand last year using Virgin Media TiVo set-top boxes, with 174 million apps (including Netflix and iPlayer) now available for users of the dedicated broadband-based service.

By offering different ways to watch, with subscription and pay-per-view options, all integrated into a straightforward, intuitive experience, there's an unrivalled world of great entertainment at our customers' fingertip," said Scott Kewley, Virgin Media's director of digital entertainment.

TiVo features include the ability to record three shows at the same time while watching something else already recorded, an intelligent search and recommendation feature, and a live TV pause and rewind option.
