UAE telecommunications company Etisalat is to shut down its E-Vision cable television service at the beginning of March 2014 to concentrate solely on its IPTV service eLife.

Etisalat says the move is a "committed effort to enhance [customers'] TV viewing experience."

eLife TV offers more than 490 TV channels, including 90 in high definition (HD), both live and on-demand via the company's high speed fibre optic network. Content from around the world can be accessed across a variety of devices in addition to the television set, including PCs, tablets and mobiles.

As well as Arabic and western programming, Etisalat has recently added 17 channels from Star TV as part of its eLive TV Choice Asian Basic package.

E-Vision customers can call 800101 to receive a free upgrade to the IPTV service.
