Ericsson looks to transform viewing experience with Future TV Anywhere

Looking to address what it says can often be fragmented and frustrating viewing experiences, Ericsson has launched the Future TV Anywhere platform.
The TV technology provider believes that new and innovative technologies are redefining the TV viewing experience and feels charged to offer operators a way to integrate pay-TV service quality and content depth, with the personalisation, interactivity and multiscreen viewing capabilities of over-the-top (OTT) services.
Based on Web and cloud technologies, the Future TV Anywhere software is described by Ericsson as a service platform that makes it possible for TV operators to quickly respond to a changing marketplace, enabling the efficient deployment and scale of services while accommodating the intense loads associated with live TV. It also uses analytics driven by big data which are said to assist operators manage new investments quickly and cost-effectively.
The Future TV Anywhere platform uses the acquired assets from Microsoft Mediaroom and will also use those that it will gain from its recently announced intention to acquire Azuki Systems. Ericsson says that it is well positioned in the TV area, with what it claims as the world's most deployed IPTV platform and decades of experience in video technology. The portfolio also includes compression and content delivery functionality.
