Entone is prepping its next-generation Magi Hybrid CATV Media Gateway.
The Magi 550 series leverages existing cable headend systems to enable cable operators to deliver an integrated hybrid TV service that combines traditional linear TV with emerging cloud and over-the-top (OTT) applications and services.
It has built-in eight tuners and integrated H.264 transcoders to provide a whole-home viewing experience across all IP devices without upfront infrastructure investment.
Powered by Entone's EnterLink video networking solution, Magi 550 series also offers flexible networking options for delivering high quality video throughout the home, including an integrated 802.11ac access point for wireless distribution, MoCA for HD video distribution over existing coax cabling, and Boxless for supporting multiple TVs from a single set-top box.
"With TV moving to the cloud, operators should embrace an IP migration strategy that allows them to launch hybrid TV services today to strengthen the relationship with their subscribers, while providing a future-proof connected home platform to introduce new and emerging applications," said Mark Evensen, founder and CTO of Entone. "Magi provides an evolutionary path for operators to deliver linear TV and OTT services across multiple IP devices from a single, operator-branded user interface."
