Network Ten has launched the first phase of its multi-platform drama, Secrets & Lies.
Ahead of the series premiere, Network Ten and Emmy Award-winning producer Hoodlum has unveiled the first stage of the interactive mystery through Network Ten’s digital platform tenplay.
The six-part series Secrets & Lies is more than a traditional television drama. In a first for the Australian television industry, the story unfolds across television, online and social media.
Secrets & Lies tells the story of Ben Gundelach (Martin Henderson), an everyday family man who finds the body of a young boy and quickly becomes the prime murder suspect. As Ben’s world falls apart, viewers will follow his journey as he embarks on a mission to clear his name. In doing so, the secrets and lies that hide behind the picket fences of a typical suburban street begin to unravel.
Through tenplay, viewers will be able to immerse themselves in the police investigation led by Detective Ian Cornielle (Anthony Hayes), with access to key storylines and suspects, a series of lie detector videos, exclusive webisodes and new clues each week.
The second-screen app zeebox will enhance the interactive experience further, offering the chance to engage with the series in real time, with exclusive scenes and extra clues to help solve the mystery.
Network Ten’s head of drama, Rick Maier, said: “This major event series take us into a whole new world of audience engagement.
"Secrets & Lies is an all-engrossing ‘There but for the grace of God’ thriller with ingenious twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end.
“For the first time, you will be able to piece together the puzzle and work on your own conspiracy theory through several layers of brilliant multi-platform content.
“Secrets & Lies has already been snapped up in several major territories including the UK and US, and promises to be a viewing experience unlike anything else broadcast this year.
“Watch the show. Solve the crime. All the clues are right in front of you.”
Hoodlum’s chief creative officer, Nathan Mayfield, said: “You will not want to miss the first episode of Secrets & Lies.
“It is not just a television show offering additional scenes for online fans: from the beginning, we have plotted how each clue and storyline is cleverly intertwined, whether that be on television, online, zeebox or social media.
“Everything was shot with our leading cast to be an all-inclusive interactive viewing experience. Nothing has been left as an after-thought."
