Smile Help needed from anyone in Dubai or surrounds

    Hello All,

I have been browsing sections of the forum for the last half hour to decide where I will post my question (I hope it is not very far off).

My question is: I will be visiting Dubai to report on signal quality using a test dish, what satellites are receivable in this area and what size of dish is needed for each?? Which are the most popular??

    All help greatly appreciated

Re: Help needed from anyone in Dubai or surrounds

    Thanks Dido,

Actually I am familiar with Satcodx (in fact a long list of updates are signed by me here and on Lyngsat) but I wanted a more down to earth response instead of db maps and I also wanted to confirm popularity which has little to do with the channel listing and the updates.
In other words if someone can confirm what are the most important satellites for Dubai installations (EutelSat, HotBird, NileSat,............) with the size of dish for each that would help me tremendously on my technical venture.

    Thanks in advance

    Thanks Urmans,

In terms of Ku Band: Badr, Hotbird and Nilesat, I realize the Emirates fall in the 46dbW zone for one, 40 dbW for the second and maybe 47 dbW for the Nilesat but in practical terms, for Ku band What size of dish is needed?

    Thanks again

From what I know if only for one Sat (Bader or Nilesat) you need 60 to 70 cmm dish, for Asiasat need 195 cmm dish.
You can put 3 LNBs in one dish for Badr-NileSat and Hotbird with 195cmm dish.

    Best Regards,
