NTV-Plus delivers 4K

NTV PlusThe Russian DTH platform NTV-Plus has delivered a live satellite Ultra HD broadcast of the Sochi Winter Olympics.

According to the company, it was undertaken with Broadcom and Elemental and featured the opening ceremony.

The broadcast followed an intensive period of testing by the three companies throughout 2013. Commenting on the broadcast, Keith Wymbs, CMO for Elemental Technologies, said: “Elemental is committed to supporting real-time HEVC today and Ultra HD service launches in the months and years to come.

“We are proud to support NTV-PLUS and to work with Broadcom in supporting the 2014 Sochi Games and enabling this historic 4K HEVC satellite transmission.”

NTV-Plus is the longest-established DTH platform in Russia. It was the first company in the country to offer its viewers both HD and 3D services.
