As it celebrates its 30 year anniversary, international French-speaking channel TV5Monde has announced that it has switched the production and broadcast of all its ten channels to high definition (HD).

In France, IPTV supplier Free has already adopted the new standard and others should follow as TV5Monde forecasts it will deploy HD in the course of 2014 across the US, Maghreb and the Middle East as well as in the Asia Pacific region.

TV5Monde's multiplex migrated from standard definition (SD) to HD on 15 February making its ten feeds now available in both standards, for cable, satellite and IPTV operators wishing to carry one or both options.

TV5Monde reaches 243 million homes across 200 countries.
