Toronto-based Cinram, one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of Blu-ray discs, DVDs and CDs for media studios, has purchased the Interra Systems Baton automated content verification and quality control software for use at the Cinram manufacturing and packaging facility in Olyphant and the Cinram 1K Studio in Burbank.

Cinram also purchased an add-on module for digital intermediate or mezzanine content verification.

"After reviewing a number of solutions, we chose Baton," said John Crosier, Cinram's senior vice president of digital architecture and delivery. "Not only does the product exceed our requirements, Interra Systems has a thorough understanding of our business and is very responsive to our needs."

The Baton solution can handle a large number of audio and video formats, and is used for quality checks and providing verification and integration with servers and software throughout the content lifecycle. Baton is used by leading broadcasters, post-production houses, IPTV, telemedia, satellite and archiving companies.

"Because the Baton system is widely used in the industry, Cinram can now mirror the content verification plans of its content distribution partners," said Ashish Basu, vice president of global sales and business development for Interra Systems. "Baton is helping Cinram pinpoint quality issues during the DVD/Blu-ray production and authoring process, ensuring a superior product."
