Kudelski HQThe Americas provided the biggest revenue contribution for the Kudelski Group in 2013, with its integrated Digital TV (iDTV) business posting a revenue increase of 2.4% in constant currency to reach CHF248.5 million (€203.5 million).
Growth was driven by the strong performance in the US, with a 13% increase in revenues at constant currency, and the extension of the company’s footprint into South America, despite a second half slowdown in Brazil.
On the other hand, the Asia Pacific and Africa iDTV region posted a small growth due to volatility in markets such as Africa and India.
According to Kudelski, it won 15 new iDTV clients worldwide in 2013 and secured 39 new projects with 32 operators.
Vodafone has selected an end-to-end OTT solution from Nagra for a launch of a hybrid Internet-terrestrial service in Spain, while operators like Voo in Belgium and Euskaltel in Spain are launching an innovative multiscreen OTT service leveraging the Nagra Cloud solution.
In Russia, ER Telecom will launch a multiscreen cable and OTT service enabled by MediaAccess content security and MediaLive multiscreen.
Kudelski had revenues and other operating income (OOI) of €857.8 million in 2013, down by 0.3% on a year earlier.
Its net income rose by 185.5% over the same period to €43.4 million. For 2014, its management expects to report total revenues and other operating income between CHF865 and 880 million and an operating income between CHF55 and 65 million.
In the core digital TV market, weak fundamentals in Europe will continue to affect volumes.
Growth is expected to come from a patent cross licence agreement signed with Cisco this January, along with the company’s cybersecurity business.
