Videocon d2h eyes southern subscribers

Direct-to-home (DTH) TV operator Videocon d2h is adding Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada language channels to its entry level pack in a move to increase its pay-TV presence in South India.
The South Silver pack will now include about 300 channels including regional favourites Sun Life, Gemini Life, Reporter TV, Udaya News, Gemini News plus popular national channels such as Colors, Life OK, CNBC TV 18, ET Now, Zee Khana Khazana, Zee Q, Bloomberg TV, CNN, History and Animal Planet.
"The inclusion of more than 50 channels in our base pack, South Silver, will definitely give us an edge over other DTH players in the highly competitive South market," said Anil Khera, CEO, Videocon d2h.
"Viewing preferences are very important for us and we ensure every effort to provide more content for customers suiting their needs. We believe that this new packaging strategy will definitely work for us."
The extended South Silver pack will be available to subscribers for INR176 per month.
