Orange CEO Stephane Richard has confirmed he is talking with US giant Microsoft about a possible partnership for the French online video platform Dailymotion, with Orange maintaining a majority stake.
In an interview with French television channel BFM TV at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, he said "talks continue ... with Microsoft," but added, "this doesn't mean that we will reach an agreement".
Last year, a deal to sell Dailymotion to Yahoo! was blocked by the French Government, but Orange has continued searching for potential partners to further expand the platform, notably across the US.
Other talks are also ongoing with French partners regarding content, Richard added, noting that Dailymotion's future will be through a business model based on high quality paid content.
