NBC Universal and Warner Bros TV have started production of the American version of Boomerang TV's series Mysteries of Laura, broadcast in Spain by TVE.

The show, which achieved great audience success in Spain, will be recorded in New York during the coming weeks.

The Spanish series has been already adapted for the American audience by Jeff Rake, although it will keep the original storyline. NBC has relied on series experts to pre-produce the show, namely Greg Berlanti (Arrow, Brothers & Sisters) and Joseph McGinty (The OC, Chuck).

The comedy, which is in its third season on TVE after a two-year break, focuses on a police inspector, who will be played by Debra Messing in the US version.

Mysteries of Laura is achieving considerable success for Boomerang TV, which took the format to the most important audiovisual summits last year. The series has also been adapted for Russian TV by Starmedia Film and will premiere on Channel 1.
