Live game telecasts of the Premier League on the networks of NBCUniversal posted the league's best-ever monthly audience in the US in February 2014.
Bolstered by lead-ins from the Sochi Olympics as well as heavy promotion within Winter Games coverage, the 17 Premier League matches on NBC, NBCSN and USA Network averaged 609,000 viewers in the States. NBC posted its best monthly Premier League average with 1.1 million February viewers, while NBCSN also set a monthly mark with an average of 508,000 Premier League viewers in the month.
NBC Sports Group's Premier League coverage has been a general success since its debut in August 2013, which has brought more EPL games than ever before to American audiences. The group is making 380 Premier League matches available live in the United States on the networks of NBCUniversal, on the Premier League Extra Time bonus TV package, and streamed live on NBC Sports Live Extra. In total, NBC Sports Group will present more than 1,600 hours of Premier League programming.
January had set the previous record for US viewership, logging 492,000 viewers for 14 Premier League telecasts on NBC and NBCSN.
The February viewership — with the highlight of Liverpool's demolition of fellow US-owned club Arsenal — marked a 76% jump from the league's best US month in the pre-NBC era (346,000 in September 2011 for 12 matches on FOX/FOX Soccer and ESPN2).
NBC Sports Group will continue its coverage of the Premier League with a tripleheader on NBCSN on Saturday 8 March, anchored by a top-tier Premier League match at 12.30pm featuring league leaders Chelsea hosting fifth-place Tottenham Hotspur.
All matches will be preceded and followed by Premier League Live pre- and post-match shows from the NBC Sports Group International Broadcast Center in Stamford, anchored by Rebecca Lowe, who returns from hosting Olympic coverage. Lowe hosts Premier League Live alongside former English footballer Robbie Mustoe and former Jamaican National Team player Robbie Earle.
All Premier League games are also streamed on NBC Sports Live Extra, NBC Sports Group's live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices and tablets.
