International broadcaster and media group TRACE has inked a carriage deal with Monterrey NL-based Cablevisión in Mexico. The MSO will carry TRACE Sport Stars, the first channel exclusively dedicated to sports celebrities.

The network is already available on three other Mexican pay-TV platforms and shown in 108 countries around the world. Cablevisión is making the channel available to more than 35,000 customers via the Paquete Alta Definition HD package.

"Cablevisión was looking for further cutting-edge and quality high definition content, not only from a local level, but also from a global approach," said René Bortoni Alanís, CEO at Cablevisión. "We are seen by our subscribers as the operator with the largest, best and most varied offer of HD channels in Latin America. This agreement with TRACE Sport Stars demonstrates that we are continually looking to improve this offer with our subscribers."

Last month, Alterna'TV struck a deal to support the distribution of TRACE Sport Stars to US and Latin America pay-TV operators.

"We are delighted to expand our footprint even further in Mexico with one of the country's major pay-TV operators and are extremely confident that our unique sports celebrity content will complement the traditional sports channel offer available to Cablevisión subscribers," said Laurent Dumeau, CEO at TRACE Sport Stars.

He added: "We believe TRACE Sport Stars will continue to generate significant interest throughout Latin America due to the unique nature of the channel's programming, delivering the latest news, behind-the-scenes content, and reviewing the most current aspects of sports celebrities' lives."
