Satmex rebrands to Eutelsat Americas

After joining the Eutelsat Group in January 2014, Mexican satellite services provider Satmex has been renamed Eutelsat Americas.
Eutelsat finalised its acquisition of Satmex in January 2014, adding to its portfolio Satmex’s three satellites — 113° West (Satmex 6), 114.9° West (Satmex 5) and 116.8° West (Satmex 8) — that cover 90% of the population of the Americas. The Satmex 7 and 9 satellites are scheduled for launch in 2015 and will more than double this total in-orbit capacity.
“The branding we are announcing today reflects Eutelsat’s objective to consistently use the Eutelsat name across all markets, and underpins our efforts to create a homogenous global presence,” commented Michel de Rosen, Eutelsat chairman and CEO.

Patricio Northland, CEO of the newly formed Eutelsat Americas, added: “This is an important step for the Satmex team.
