RTL's Geo Television to launch at Entertain

German broadcast group Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland has won the first distribution partner for Geo Television, its new pay-TV documentary channel which will launch on 8 May 2014.
German telco Deutsche Telekom will carry Geo Television on its IPTV platform Entertain. The service will form part of subscription package Doku. Customers signing up for the HD option will receive the channel in high definition.
Geo Television will show documentaries focussing on nature, technology, research, adventures and world history. The schedule will comprise, for example, the documentary Hawking about British scientist Stephen Hawking, Oscar-winning documentary thriller Inside Job which explores the reasons and background of the global financial crisis and award-winning documentary series Frozen Planet which shows life at the North and South Pole.
The channel, which will be operated in collaboration with German reportage magazine Geo, will complement RTL's existing pay-TV services RTL Crime, Passion and RTL Living.
