Zodiak Rights in drama package with CinemaWorld

Zodiak Rights, the distribution wing of Zodiak Media, has secured a package deal with Pan-Asian broadcaster CinemaWorld, covering dramas by Zodiak production companies Yellow Bird, GTV and Touchpaper Television.

The deal includes CinemaWorld’s pan-Asian pay-TV channel and VOD platforms available in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, China, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Macau, Papua New Guinea and Cambodia.

CinemaWorld has acquired the broadcasting rights of Echoes from the Dead, a thriller produced by Yellow Bird and directed by Daniel Alfredson. The mystery drama shot in Cuba and starring Lena Endre is based on the best-selling book by Swedish author Johan Theorin.

The deal also includes a selection of French prime-time drama produced by Zodiak’s GTV including Jury Duty, which tells the story of a murderer called up for jury duty for a trial for which he is the real criminal; Agatha’s Double, a mini-series following Agatha’s turmoil when she is suspected to have murdered her doppelganger; Deadly Hitch, a drama about a journalist covering the tragic death of a child in a car accident, in which he is himself involved; Who killed Little Red Riding Hood, a murder mystery named best prime time mini-series at the 2009 Fiction Festival of La Rochelle; and Troubled Waters, a thriller offering a blend of fact and fiction, where seaweed is a lethal weapon.

As part of the agreement, CinemaWorld also acquired Murderland, a crime series produced by Zodiak’s Touchpaper Television.

In a second deal, Zodiak Rights sold The Blue Bicycle, a classic romance produced by GTV set in the background of the Second World War, to China’s pay TV CCTV6. The deal was brokered by Beijing Hua Yun Starlight C&T Culture Medias Center.
