Cloud-based content and technology provider has in one fell swoop created a vertically integrated over-the-top (OTT) content service firm with the acquisition of OTT firms JadooTV, Pearl Media Group and Altair Technologies.

CloudStream says the acquisitions catapult it in its quest to be the dominant multicultural OTT provider, gaining access to a well known OTT brand (JadooTV), the largest South Asian user base in excess of a million viewers, key content deals and proprietary technologies. JadooTV is a leading OTT provider of South Asian content and streaming devices; Pearl Media Group is a multicultural content aggregator; while Altair Technologies is an OTT-focused software development and technology firm.

Now aiming to be in the forefront of the second-screen content consumption boom, CloudStream plans to launch numerous services on connected devices such as smart TVs, tablets, set-top boxes, gaming consoles and mobile platforms. “The capital injection and merger of leading OTT companies will better enable us to grow our global customer base and offerings with integrated content services, solutions and technologies,” explained CEO Sajid Sohail.

“The acquisition by CloudStream creates significant value for our content partners. The collective capabilities of the merged companies will enhance our content delivery capabilities as well as enrich the end-user experience,” added Faisal Aftab, co-founder and chief executive officer, Pearl Media Group.
