El Clįsico, the football match between Real Madrid and Barcelona to be played on 23 March, will be at the centre of Canal+'s sport programming next week. But the pay-TV platform intends to focus not only on football, but on sports of all kinds.

Prisa's network will offer El Clįsico through Canal+1 and Canal+HD, and in order to thoroughly cover the thousandth duel between Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, Canal+ will broadcast from 28 different camera positions in Santiago Bernabeu. The network will have super-slow and high speed recording and a special travelling camera placed above the field which will offer scenes similar to those from football videogames.

In addition to football, Canal+ intends to compete with Movistar TV's renewed programming offer, which includes Formula One and Moto GP, by offering basketball's Euroleague and the NBA play-offs, the tennis Masters 1000, golf competitions and the World Rally Championship, among others.

Through the slogan "We love sports above everything", Canal+ has also launched a campaign to draw new subscribers. All the sports channels, including the Champions League channel, will be offered at a lower price to new subscribers until the end of the season.
