canal-social-tvCanal+ Group has launched the Social Player, a new social platform that builds content based around the profile and the preferences of the user’s own community and their friends.

The French paycaster says the Social Player offers an unprecedented interactive experience around its channels. Features allow the user to build a schedule of their favourite programmes identified from the newsfeed of their friends.

Social Player also incorporates a new feature “time how” that offers the user the opportunity to respond to a specific time in the video. This will allow direct access to the most commented sequences and participate in discussions.

The Social Player can be accessed from the Canal+ website on computers and tablets.

Canal is making the Social Player available from developers who wish to create or offer third-party applications through an open API system.
