Malaysian pay-TV operator Astro has installed a Volicon video monitoring and logging system at its Kuala Lumpar broadcast centre to enable off-air logging for over 200 channels.
"Volicon's Observer system gives us an integrated off-air logging system built on proven technology and equipped with features that give our staff a high degree of flexibility in working with aired media," said Chris McMillan, vice president, production services, Astro.
"By allowing simultaneous users across our operations to access logged content quickly and with ease, the Observer system has enabled us to improve our efficiency and responsiveness in assuring the quality and compliance of Astro services."
Astro now serves a customer base of over 3.9 million (or 56% of Malaysia's television households), with 171 channels, including 39 in high definition (HD), delivered via direct-to-home (DTH) satellite TV, Internet protocol TV (IPTV) and over-the-top (OTT) platforms.
