Sky TV Guide 2014Sky has begun the rollout of its new Sky Store ‘Buy & Keep’ service, which allows subscribers to maintain a permanent digital copy of their movie, rather than rent them for a few hours or days.
As an incentive to draw subscribers into electronic retailing, buyers will also receive a packaged copy of their purchase.
Nicola Bamford, Director of Sky Store said, “Buying movies straight from your sofa becomes even easier with Sky Store from today. Our customers love to watch their favourite movies again and again, and with ‘Buy & Keep’ they get the benefit of being able to watch in minutes with the HD digital download, as well as receiving the original DVD in the post”.
Early titles available to purchase include Warner Bros’ epic adventure and box office hit The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Ben Stiller comedy The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, family fun animation ‘Turbo’, the Richard Curtis romantic comedy About Time, as well as Life of Pi and The Wolverine.
The service will be further enhanced over the next year with customers being able to access the movies they’ve bought via tablets and smartphones. In the future, TV box sets will be available to buy and Sky Store ‘Buy & Keep’ will become accessible through the NOW TV Box, Roku and YouView boxes as well as online from the Sky Store website.
Sky Store ‘Buy & Keep’ requires a Sky+HD set-top that is connected to the internet. Currently 4.4 million customers have chosen to do so.
