Atresmedia has launched Nubeox Premium, an online platform including pay-TV networks and a large video-on-demand (VOD) catalogue.
Until now, Nubeox only offered a free online TV service, achieving 500,000 subscribers in the last two years, but now Atresmedia intends to take some of this audience to a premium service, which will be available for €5 until the end of May.
The platform includes FOX, FOX Crime, TNT, Calle 13, SyFy, AXN, AXN White, Disney Junior, Disney XD and National Geographic. It also enables users to rent films from a VOD catalogue with over 1,200 titles as well as blockbuster series such as The Walking Dead, The Americans, Hannibal and Vikings which will be available immediately after their US' premieres.
Atresmedia intends to compete directly with Canal+'s Yomvi, TotalChannel, Wuaki.tv and Filmin, which have been working successfully in the Spanish market over the past few years. Magine, the Swedish online platform, has been working on beta for almost a year and will soon launch its final version.
The Nubeox app is currently available for computers, iPads and Samsung smart TVs, although it's expected to be launched on Android devices, PlayStation and LG smart TVs before the summer.
