Anacom launches DTT consultation

April 25, 2014 10.55 Europe/London By Julian Clover

AnacomPortugal’s communications regulator has announced the launch of its delayed consultation on the future of DTT development.

The month long consultation will run until May 26.

With DTT spectrum under threat from 4G services the regulator said the study would collect information for a “definition of measures to be taken within the tasks and responsibilities of each entity, also considering the evolution that draws internationally on the use of radio spectrum”.

The 70-page consultation document has been drawn up by the Anacom and the ERC (Regulatory Authority for the Media).

On the agenda is the transmission of HD channels, the introduction of pay-TV services and other possible business models.

Portugal switched off its analogue services in April 2012.
