Youku Tudou teams with China's leading smart TV and OTT providers

The premier online TV provider in China, Youku Tudou, has revealed strategic partnerships with a number of the country's over the top and connected TV manufacturers.

The company has ramped up its activities of late and only weeks ago Metan Development Group launched a multi-channel network dedicated to movies, celebrities and TV series, launched on the site.

In this latest move eight of the new partners will offer an exclusive integration of the pre-installed Youku Tudou App. Youku began implementing its smart TV and OTT strategy in the second half of 2013 and says that it has obtained its position as a market leader by adopting an open partnership model, and working closely with partners to develop its app in order to maximise user experience.

Four of the new partners are OTT companies who will provide the exclusively pre-installed Youku Tudou TV app. Huawei Technologies, the leading set-top box provider to the telecom operator market in China, is projected to distribute 1.5 million set-top boxes in 2014 year; ZTE 9 Network Technology's Fun Box, China's first Android-based games box; and Goldweb Technologies and Jiuzhou Electronic Technology, which, with projected sales of 800,000 boxes this year, are China's leading OTT makers.The four other partnerships are with Coship Electronics, Changhong, Haier and Konka who have chosen to pre-install the Youku Tudou App
