TVE, which has the oldest audience segments among the Spanish free-to-air (FTA) channels, is launching new programming in an attempt to attract younger viewers, starting this week with the premiere of its Web series Conoce el Internet.
Some of Spain's most followed bloggers, YouTubers and Twitterers will be interviewed on the show, a new video of which will be available each week on YouTube. The programme will be presented by a fake journalist who will ask tricky and joke questions.
The series' goal, according to TVE editor Miguel Campos, talking to El Pais, is to showcase the Internet's new celebrities. "Ten years ago it was impossible for these people to be famous and now they have thousands of followers, but the question is: where are we going with all this?"
The YouTube channel and the promos are ready, as well as interviews of the first guests. Jpelirrojo, a YouTuber with over 400,000 followers, will be the first hook of the programme, followed by the bloggers Mirand Makaroff and Mikel Iturriaga, comedian Antonio Castelo and film director Inés de León.
Every episode will last for three minutes.
