MTS has announced that it will be expanding its fibre-to-the-home network, the MTS FiON Network, to Oakbank, Manitoba, later this year.
MTS delivers MTS Ultimate TV and ultra-fast high speed Internet over fibre. MTS Ultimate TV features nearly 400 channels including 146 HD channels, a range of apps and access to video-on-demand (VOD) and pay-per-view events. Subscribers can also pause and rewind live TV from any room in their house with the whole-home PVR. Customers on the MTS FiON Network can have download speeds of up to 250Mbps.
"Many people in Niverville have been asking us when we would be bringing our Ultimate TV and high speed Internet services to the community," said MTS president Kelvin Shepherd. "Today's announcement is good news for our customers in Niverville as they will soon have access to the suite of services this state-of-the-art technology provides."
The expansion to Niverville is part of a multi-year programme to deploy the MTS FiON Network to more communities in Manitoba. Since 2010, MTS has launched the network in Selkirk, Steinbach, Dauphin, Thompson, The Pas, Neepawa, Carberry, Minnedosa, Killarney, Beausejour, Lorette, Stonewall and select areas of Winnipeg and Brandon.
"Niverville is growing, and the availability of technology such as this is very important in attracting people and investment to our community," said Acting Niverville Mayor John Funk. "I'd like to thank MTS for making this fibre-optic network available to the residents of Niverville."
