Atresmedia takes True Detective to FTA

Atresmedia has purchased the broadcast rights for HBO's True Detective and will show the critically acclaimed series on free-to-air (FTA) TV in Spain.
The series is one of HBO's most viewed productions in the US, concluding its first season with an average audience of over 3.5 million.
True Detective will probably either be broadcast through Antena 3, the company's most watched channel, or laSexta, which the group also uses to premiere American series.
The HBO original production stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as two detectives running after a serial killer in Louisiana.
True Detective, created by Nic Pizzolatto (The Killing) and directed by Cary Fukunaga, has not yet announced a second season in the US, but this is expected. Indeed, the series has had the best audience figures of an HBO premiere since Two Feet Under.
