New ownership for CME?

CMECentral European Media Enterprises (CME) could find itself under new ownership, with two Czech entrepreneurs – Petr Kellner and Pavel Tykac – in pole position to take a majority stake in the company.

E15 reports that representatives of Kellner and Tykac have met with Time Warner, currently the majority shareholder in CME, on several occasions in London but have yet to finalise an agreement.

It adds that no individual station, such as TV Nova, would be sold, but rather the prospective buyer would have to become the main shareholder in CME.

There has been strong speculation recently about interest in specific CME stations – the company has broadcast interests in six CEE markets – including Bulgaria’s bTV, Romania’s Pro TV and Slovakia’s TV Markiza.
