Tunis Media City, a hub dedicated to satellite broadcasting and telecommunications services, is set for operation by July 2014, according to its project manager.

Zied Khedher, director general of the Jordan-Saudi Company for Satellite (JASCO), which is initiating the project, said that the project also aims to establish satellite links and high tech services between the TV channels of the Arab Machreq (Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Syria and Iraq) and the Arab Maghreb (the stretch of North Africa which borders the Mediterranean, and includes Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya).

The creation of Tunis Media City was announced on the sidelines of an Arab States Broadcasting Union meeting in late April.
