The news division of BSkyB has launched its first dedicated news service for the pay-TV giant's On Demand platform.

Available to Sky customers with a connected Sky+HD set-top box, the service is designed to allow users to chose a variety of content including key bulletins, specially commissioned programmes in the form of documentaries and the pick of Sky News' archive. It will also offer special programming such as Week in Review, a look back on the week's news, a showbiz catch-up and a special section focusing on the world of technology.

"Sky News is committed to developing the ways in which customers can watch its content," commented John Ryley, head of Sky News. "Sky News on catch-up TV offers Sky customers the chance to curate the news how they want it at a time when we are producing an increasing amount of high quality features".
