This year's La Liga championship has been so close that the last match between Atlético and Barcelona is serving as a final.

With the massive international interest that has arisen, Mediapro will be distributing the match to over 50 operators around the world.

The Spanish producer is to film the event in 4K, as it previously did with El Clásico. In addition to the regular HD infrastructure, Mediapro will add four 4K cameras and two mixers able to offer pictures with over 8,000 pixels. This quality is not able to be broadcast by any Spanish operator as yet, but several pay-TV networks around the world are able to offer it to their audiences.

The match, which has a potential audience of 500 million viewers, will be also post-produced in 4K. The highlights will be offered in the highest resolution through La Liga's YouTube channel.

Mediapro is testing 4K production for next season, when it plans to launch complete coverage of La Liga in Ultra HD. By using the new standard and with La Liga's deal with Twitter to offer live video commentary of every match, the football competition is becoming one of the most watched around the globe.
