Universal Channel to join UPC in Austria and Switzerland

Universal Channel 100 Charakter Logo 1The German version of movie and series channel Universal Channel will expand into neighbouring Austria and Switzerland.

The pay-TV channel will become available at UPC Austria, Austria’s largest cable operator, in high-definition (HD) on May 20, 2014 in subscription package HD Extra.

UPC Cablecom will follow on June 3, 2014: Switzerland’s largest cable company will distribute Universal Channel in HD quality in its Comfort bouquet.

Parent company Universal Networks International Germany announced the carriage deals with UPC Austria and UPC Cablecom in April 2014.

In Germany, the channel which launched in September 2013 is available at Sky Deutschland, Kabel Deutschland, Unitymedia Kabel BW and Deutsche Telekom’s Entertain. Distribution will gradually be expanded.
