Over 150 producers, 15 public networks, eight festival managers and other representatives of the TV industry recently met at Micsur (Mercado de Industrias Culturales del Sur) which took place in Argentina's Mar de Plata.
The event resulted in content distribution deals and the shared production of a webseries.
During the conference, at which cinema, music and theatre were discussed alongside TV, Argentina's public TV network organised an international workshop during which the basis for a content distribution agreement between the region's channels was settled.
In addition to this, and driven by Colombia's production company Catapulta Producciones, companies from five of the participating countries agreed to create a webseries.
During the four-day event, cultural producers from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, Uruguay and Paraguay shared their ideas and studied new business opportunities.
"More than 3,000 visitors, 1,200 producers, 80 workshops ... These are the figures of an event betting on small and medium-size enterprises and young producers," explained Rodolfo Hamawi, Argentina's director for cultural industries. "Micsur is here to stay, grow and develop," he added.
In two years, the event is going to be held in Colombia's capital Bogotá and in 2018 it will take place in Brazil.
