Telemundo Internacional and Televisión Nacional de Chile (TVN) have announced an international co-production deal for the series Dueños del Paraíso (Owners of Paradise), adaptated from Pablo Illanes' novel.
The series will be broadcast in the US and Chile by Telemundo and TVN respectively. Telemundo will be in charge of the international syndication of the production, which is expected to feature top in-front and behind-the-cameras talent from TVN and Telemundo. The deal was signed at the LA Screenings by Marcos Santana, president of Telemundo Internacional, and Mauro Valdés, executive director of TVN.
Dueños del Paraíso will star Kate del Castillo, the acclaimed actress who is returning to TV after the success of La Reina del Sur, the highest-rated soap opera in Telemundo's history.
"We are extremely proud of this historic co-production agreement with the company that has led scripted drama in Chile," said Santana. "This co-production will have a significant impact in the international markets, as both companies dedicate their best resources to this project."
An original story by Chilean writer Pablo Illanes, Dueños del Paraíso will be filmed on location in Miami, New York and Chile, and will feature the special participation of top Chilean stars which TVN will cast through a national search.
"This agreement manifests TVN's leadership, in particular in the area of scripted productions," said Valdés. "We have had a long-standing relationship with our partner Telemundo Internacional and this project will expand it into large scale audiovisual productions. This alliance introduces a major innovation in the Chilean television industry and will allow us to showcase to the international markets the great capacity of our production teams, the talent of our actors and the quality of our country's locations."
